mancebo (2019)

“Mancebo” is the Portuguese word for a young man at the right age to join the military. In their debut album, multidisciplinary artist Fábio M Silva explores themes of patriarchal oppression, gender dysphoria, unrequited love and depression. Short and poignant lyrics are repeated as self healing mantras throughout, mixing influences that range from the dark techno of Berlin to languid traditional Portuguese fado.
